Peeta vs Gale Debate Rages On!

With the announcement of casting for Peeta and Gale in the Hunger Games movie, Twitter is alive with the age old debate; Peeta or Gale. We all know who we supported while reading the books but this post is to help you decide who to support during the movie. We may know how it ends, but getting there is one big sexy adventure.

Josh Hutcherson as Peeta:

Josh who is 18 years old has been in and will be in some big films. Journey to the Center of the Earth is the only one I have actually watched and I was geeking out on Brendan so I don’t exactly remember the kid. Here is what we know:
He is short, like extremely for a boy of 18. Hollywood can combat that though, just look at Supernatural…
He can be seen now in The Kids are Alright which garnered him some massive award noms.
He is filming Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 now.
He was in Vampire’s Assistant and will be in Detention and Red Dawn.
As seen in the pic he can party capitol style.

Liam Hemsworth as Gale

He is Australian – bonus sexy points.
He made instant stardom weeks after coming to the US by getting a role in Last Song with Miley Cyrus.
Before moving to the U.S., Liam starred in the Australian soap opera, Neighbours as a paraplegic
Before he started acting, Liam worked briefly laying floors.
He seems to be very manly.

So there you have it folks. Everything you need to make your allegiance decisions.

Review: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Goodreads: Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

I literally finished Mockingjay fifteen minutes ago. Normally I take time and reflect and think. There is a list of questions I ask myself before every review after I have slept on the ending for a night. I do not need any of this preparation to tell you that I loved Mockingjay.

Collins did not always do the popular thing in this book. Katniss has suffered through these pages in ways I will let you find out about on your own. There will be no spoilers here. Katniss suffered in ways I could never imagine. Even when the back of your mind was screaming at you that something was going to happen you can’t believe it until the finality of Collins words dashes your hope for a different turn.

This book is an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions. I laughed, I cried, I grieved and I know I will have trouble moving on. You will note that I didn’t review either of the previous books in the series. They had been reviewed a million times and I had nothing to add. I figured I would not review Mockingjay either but I had no choice.

Collins ended this series in ways I could not have seen coming. It was fantastical, diabolical, it toys with you the reader as a hook toys with a fish. It will leave you gasping for air, begging for more and knowing that this is the finality it will leave you with much to think about.

If you haven’t read this series, begin. You do not want to miss the conclusion of The Girl on Fire and all of her friends.

An in depth look: Why Team Gale?

by Damn Skippy I have never quite explained to you my Team Gale status. I thought I would take the time and go over my reasoning for all of you. For one I am quite sad that Gale doesn’t get as much face time as Bakery Boi. I think if he did we would have a lot more Gale converts. I full expect after reading Mockingjay a plethora of Peeta supporters will be lining up to get on the Gale Train. Well guess what peeps. It ain’t happening. I see the lure of Peeta. Women want to protect him, we all like a guy who can bake, and he is smart. He even kept Katniss from starving once. Gale has many more assets that the Peeta-heads just seem to look over. I think Peeta is sneaky. Peeta is even smarter than we give him credit for and I think Katniss is going to find out the hard way.

Reasons why you should be Team Gale:

  1. He can provide for Katniss-
  2. meaning he can provide more than stale bread. He is a hunter and if at some point Katniss needs to be at home with children he can provide a stable diet of meat, fruit, and bread for his family and that of Katniss. No it is not romantic at any sense but how can you see a world that torn apart where people are starving and not think sensible instead of romantic?

  3. Gale cares for Katniss-
  4. Yes you can say Peeta cares too, you can mention the time he gave her some bread and got in trouble for it. Gale however has been risking his neck for a long time to hunt with her, go to the market with her. They have formed a relationship that is based on friendship, companionship and need.

  5. Gale will be there-
  6. No matter what Katniss does, no matter where she goes, no matter how many times she pretends to be in love with Peeta, Gale is still there waiting in the wings and thinking only the best of her. He doesn’t push her or trick her into things like Peeta does with the aide of Haymitch. He is true to her in many ways that get over-looked in the context of the books.

So in short don’t come patty caking to me when Baker Man screws her over and Gale is there to pick up the pieces :D
