I have been thinking a lot about resolutions lately, as I am sure many of you have too. But I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to break them. We set these lofty goals for ourselves on December 31st. The blank slate of a new year is a siren song, it wants you to set goals that you will get tired of three weeks later and give up. The New Year wants you to fail.
I set three simple resolutions for myself this year:
-Write something nice that happened to me each day on a slip of paper and put it in a jar. So that when 2014 comes around I’ll reread all the small nice things that happened to me in 2013 and I won’t forget.
-Perform an act of kindness every single day.
-Do only things that make me happy. (Learn to say no)
Now, I have a few days before my query inbox opens again. I have a few loose ends to tie up but I also have some time. For today and tomorrow my kind act will be to raise money for ShelterBox. ShelterBox is one of my favorite charities. I was introduced to it via Maureen Johnson and have donated regularly for over a year.
So, go to Shelterbox, donate as little or as much as you want. When you get the email thanking you for your donation forward it to firstname.lastname@example.org (you can delete the amounts and such) and add your query in! I will critique it for you :).
Have a wonderful 2013!
