Coliloquy Launch and Kindle Contest

Coliloquy comes out of the Kindle Developer Beta Program for Active Content and will be available on all e-ink Kindle devices. By delivering titles as active content applications, rather than static publishing files, Coliloquy enables new kinds of engagement that simply aren’t possible in a traditional book format. Multiple “what if” story lines let authors and readers explore different permutations of character relationships. TV-like episodes can grow and change, based on reader choices, voting, and feedback. Fans can reread a key scene from a different character’s point-of-view or unlock new content. -Press Release

I am so happy to be able to share with you all the launch of this fabulous new innovative publishing company. I have read two titles (Witch’s Brew by Heidi R. Kling and Arcania by Liz Maverick) and I was delightfully surprised at how much I enjoyed this choose your own path format. From the two books I read, I read through them twice. I had to see what happens with all the choices.

Here are the four books that you can get for your Kindle e-ink device today:

Heidi R. Kling, Witch’s Brew (The Spellspinners of Melas County): a contemporary young adult series about a modern day witch who must betray everything she knows to save her magic and her forbidden love.

Kira Snyder, Dead Letter Office (Parish Mail): a contemporary southern gothic mystery series about a teenager who discovers a cache of centuries-old letters containing clues to crimes happening in the present day.

Liz Maverick, Arcania, Trial by Fire #1 (Arcania): a young adult fantasy series about an underachieving teen thrust into an MMO-like world of magical combat, where she must master her own genetic gifts while investigating her twin sister’s suspicious death.

Tawna Fenske, Getting Dumped: a serialized romantic caper about a woman who loses her job but finds love, intrigue, mayhem, and a new career buried in the unlikeliest of places.

Contest:

Coliloquy has given me a shiny new Kindle preloaded with their titles to give to you! Just use the Rafflecopter form to enter. You do not have to use your last name, or even your real first name. I am shocked (shocked in the best possible way) by the idea of serialized books in Ebook format! I am always amazed by technology/ technological advancements we have seen in the last few years.

  42. Gravatar

  51. Gravatar

    Please… please… please…

  52. Gravatar

I’m not so sure about having choices. I mean most of the time we could think that we can write a better ending but that is why the author exists, they allows us a glance into their minds.
But hey, it can be fun!

    Thanks for the chance ;)

  53. Gravatar

This sounds like a cool idea. I can’t wait to check it out

  54. Gravatar

Thanks for the giveaway! I really like the sound of these, especially because I grew up with ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’… I think everyone likes having an actual say in the story, as well as all the extra content.. I think that makes sense with all the technology that exists now.

  55. Gravatar

I like series as it gives me a chance to see characters grow and for me to build a closer connection with them. Sometimes they become like old friends. I like them to be available in both print and ebooks format -with ebook I can get instant access :)

  74. Gravatar

  75. Gravatar

I love serials, such a classic way to read! Also way less torturous to wait for the next part!

  76. Gravatar

I think serializing novels is a great idea (I’m doing it myself). The give-away seems like a cool thing, too. Best of luck!

  77. Gravatar

I would like to read “Witches Brew” on MY new Kindle.. That would be awesome.
Thank you Pam for this opportunity/entry.

  78. Gravatar

I think serial e-books are a great idea. You get to enjoy a complete series without cluttering up your bookshelf.

  79. Gravatar

This is such an awesome contest and blog!! :)

  80. Gravatar

I am kinda intrigued with this format, particularly for the Dead Letter Office title. That’s awesome!

  81. Gravatar

This concept is incredible. And, what better platform than an e-reader, particularly the Kindle. As a grad student, I’d love a Kindle for pleasure reading and accessing affordable books for school. Thanks for the giveaway!

  82. Gravatar

Oh my, I don’t know what it would be like to have control of the story like this. But I sure would like to find out! The concept is something I’m familiar with from when video games first introduced it in the ’90s, then perfected it in the 2000′s. But to read a book like this? I’m anticipating loads of enjoyment. I re-read regularly and yet this sounds like the 2nd or 3rd time I read the book it is a different story. Definitely interested in seeing this in action!

  83. Gravatar

This is such an interesting idea! I alwas windered “what if” with some of the books i havee read.

  84. Gravatar

I think these books are a fantastic idea. They give the reader the chance to make the book their own, drawing the reader in more by allowing them to dictate more of the outcome. The first book I read with this format was “Can You Survive The Zombie Apocalypse. Very entertaining and kept me hooked from the first “decision” point. Great format!

  85. Gravatar

That sounds like a fun idea. Just as long as I don’t get too many choices.

  86. Gravatar

this is a great opp to win from a fun blog :)

  87. Gravatar

Those sound like some great titles I cannot wait to find out more.

  88. Gravatar

I am always looking for new sites for finding books. This sure looks like one of them.

  89. Gravatar

I like the idea of this, and hope it’ll work on an e-reader platform like the Kindle and not become confusing. I loved the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books as a kid, so if this is even remotely similar, I’m in. :)

  90. Gravatar

The titles read awesomely. Liz when did you find the time?

  91. Gravatar

Always looking for new romance! Thank you.

  92. Gravatar

Theses books sound very interesting! I think this will be a nice option for readers. I like to try new things, especially with new books and authors! Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  93. Gravatar

    All these books look amazing

  94. Gravatar

Just like the old Choose Your Own Adventure books these sound wonderful. Recently I’ve given my youngest son, 9, a series of choose your own adventure and he’s havng the same fun with them as I did and will have now with this type of format.

  95. Gravatar

I love “choose your own adventure” type books. It’s like several books in one!

  96. Gravatar

What a fun idea. These books sound intriguing.

  97. Gravatar

I’m not sure about being able to choose what happens next, but I’m definitely willing to give it a try :]

  98. Gravatar

I love that publishers are embracing all the different types of media we can immerse ourselves in. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

  99. Gravatar

I think choose your path books are great. I know there are times where I have told the main character what to do, but they never listen! This way you can find out if the advice you try to give is good advice!

  100. Gravatar

These books look great! What an awesome idea!

  101. Gravatar

Thanks for the great giveaway. Awesome idea.

  102. Gravatar

This concept sounds very interesting! Leaving the ending in the hands of the reader, I want to read one of those!

  103. Gravatar

    Those covers are pretty awesome.

  104. Gravatar

Thanks for the giveaway! I think e-books are awesome since you can bring so much more with you when you go traveling or if you’re on the road and can’t bring a lot of weight with you.

  106. Gravatar

  108. Gravatar

I love the idea of interactive titles. When I was a kid, the Choose Your Own Adventures were some of my favorite books to read, especially because I could return to them for more than one experience of the story. I really hope to see more of this type of storytelling as ereader ownership increases.

  109. Gravatar

I love checking out new YA books for my students – I used to love the choose your own adventure books.

  110. Gravatar

I didn’t know if that comment javascript thing worked so I’ll write here.

I definitely want to try out a Kindle. Sounds fun (:

  111. Gravatar

I am a big fan of print books. Although I seem to be getting more and more books and less and less room to keep them. By having the opportunity to have the same books in ebook format, I can have an unlimited amount more of books without the storage problem. Serialized books in ebook format is also a great thing.

  112. Gravatar

How do I get the four books mentioned???

  113. Gravatar

Very excited about this new project – congratulations, you guys! :D
