From Hicklebee’s: Dancia Lewis is far from popular. And that’s not just because of her average grades or her less-than-glamorous wardrobe. In fact, Dancia’s mediocrity is a welcome cover for her secret: whenever she sees a person threatening someone she cares about, things just…happen. Cars skid. Structures collapse. Usually someone gets hurt. So Dancia does everything possible to avoid getting close to anyone, belieiving this way she can supress her powers and keep them hidden. But when recruiters from the prestigious Delcroix Academy show up in her living room to offer her a full scholarship, Dancia’s days of living under the radar may be over. Only, Delcroix is a school for diplomats’ kids and child geniuses–not B students with uncontrollable telekinetic tendencies. So why are they treating Dancia like she’s special? Even the hottest guy on campus seems to be going out of his way to make Dancia feel welcome. And then there’s her mysterious new friend Jack, who can’t stay out of trouble. He suspects something dangerous is going on at the Academy and wants Dancia to help him figure out what. But Dancia isn’t convinced. She hopes that maybe the recruiters know more about her “gift” than they’re letting on. Maybe they can help her understand how to use it…But not even Dancia could have imagined what awaits her behind the gates of Delcroix Academy.

First of all I want to admonish all of you: bloggers, publicists, dear readers of my blog. Why had no one told me the awesomeness that is The Talents? I know what you are thinking, “The Talents, what is that?”. Well in a smooth move from Disney, they changed the name of the series and books and changed the covers, oh and they changed the release date of the book formerly known as The Watchers.

Okay so here is the sitch. The Candidates is now in paperback as The Talents, the series will be known as The Talents series and the second book which was supposed to come out this year is pushed back to 2012 and the title has changed from The Watchers to The Marked! So now that all the confusing is out of the way I point you to Inara’s blog where you can see the new covers. Which are TDF, I mean it TDF people!

I have had The Candidates on my shelf for a long time. Well since it came out really. I just never sat down to read it. I read it this past week finally and loved it. Dancia is everything I want in a main character. She is smart, badass, caring and really funny. She is a bit hard on herself but growing up the way she did having to hide her powers and without parents it fits her character.

If you read this blog frequently you know that I love boarding schools. LOVE THEM. Although, they have to be properly creepy and Delcroix is! Dancia has lived in the town that Delcroix is located in all her life, however, no one really comes down off the hill so she never met any of the students going there. She went to middle school in the public sector and was dreading starting high school.

Dancia lives with her grandmother and takes care of her. Times are hard in the local people’s industries and her grandmother is raising her since her parents are dead. A knock on the door, and an emissary from Delcroix changes Dancia’s life forever, she will attend her Frosh year at the school.

Dancia meets some really cool characters. She learns more about herself and what kind of person she really is, and what Delcroix is actually a cover story for.

I loved EVERY moment of this book and I think each and every one of you will too! Viva le Talents!

Yay! I am so happy you liked The Candidates. I loved it! I have The Watchers, but haven’t had the chance to read it. I just read her adult romance book, Radient Desire and loved it!

    Great review!!!
