Hi, this is my first time here, found you via Well Read Wife on twitter and her blog post about jealousy. It's a very curious sin, jealousy. I'm a 3 year blogger, more for fun and sanity than for fame and I've only recently realized how many dedicated diligent book bloggers there are out here.
My jealousy is more about wanting to learn more, but not because I want the only piece of the pie, just to inch a bit more of it.
Great Post, I'm looking around more now!!

I love this post so much for so many reasons. i wrote my own post on the topic last night bc I was so inspired by your and Amy's posts. I was inspired because while it seems like gossip/snarkiness is discussed a lot (especially on Twitter), our own insecurities are often overlooked. That's what made these posts so special. Thanks for sharing. i love your blog and always look forward to hearing what you have to say.

I think it's fine to be jealous in "Aw! Lucky! That's awesome!" sense but I don't think it's good to be so jealous that it actually gets you really upset.

I'd be jealous of anyone who got a free iPad or a book that I REALLY want to read, regardless of whether they're a blogger or not.

I also think it's fine to care about stats. "Good" stats are a compliment, in a way, so I'm always a little sceptical when people say they don't care (and it always seems to be the ones that DO have a lot of followers that say that!).

Super post, Pam. I'm a mini-blogger with small goals even at two years running. I still love my numbers even if I'm at 100 not 2000. ;O) The world of publishing has always been interesting to me because the world of printed word has always excited me. For that, I love reading, blogging and reading bloggings. I love everyone's different take on this though I do have to say that while different in perspective, your post and Amy's are the best I've come across. Thanks for the great words of wisdom and perspective. :O)

I'm definitely not one for blogger jealousy. There are plenty of readers and visitors to go around, even for blogs that get 2k or 200k unique hits per day.

I want to see bloggers with good blogs succeed. As much as I like traditional media, I prefer reading blogs. We have no guidelines we have to abide by, we have no editors we have to run our content past (although I wouldn't mind having a proofreader on hand for my typos), and we have no advertisers that we are required to appease.

Yes, I like seeing my stats go up, knowing that I'm not always talking just to myself. But, I haven't gotten to the point where it's become that crucial to my success.

I'm still happy with the idea that someone has read my reviews or content, likes what I've had to say, and leaves me a comment. For now, to me, that's success.

But I'm definitely going to check out that other blog you mentioned above, because I had no idea the latest brouhaha was about blogger jealousy and I am curious about these free iPads.

(And yes,I would totally love to see one of your business cards!)
