Hi, Dianne! [waves]

I think it's wonderful you've done both. All that really matters is that you're happy with how things are going, and know that you have more than one option!

Hey, Sarah! [waves again]

Thanks! I hope you enjoy it (Daughters of the Lore, right?). Had a lot of fun writing that, and hope the characters return for a visit at some point. They whispered all sorts of stories, then took off for a vacation. Hmph.

I think you have great reasons for self-publishing. I went over to Amazon and checked out the books you have up. I bought one (the lowest priced one. I have no money!) to try it out. If I like it, I might buy more.

I give you major Kudos for making your own covers. I think that is awesome, especially after watching that video of all the work that goes into making covers.

Good Luck with everything!

Applause, applause! I love everything you said!

I also chose to self-publish my first novel for the same reasons outlined above. After 2 years of going it alone, I received an offer of a traditional contract -- yes, I was ready for some help by then.

I'm now doing it the traditional way, but I've come up through the trenches (or slipped in over the transom) and I have my eyes open about how things work.

I hope to get more contracts in the future, but I'm not afraid to explore other routes, too. Frankly, in a few years I'd be happy to be published in as many different ways as possible!
