Do Follow

I realized something kind of accidentally today. All of us running wordpress are in way ruining our chances at more comments. Those who know what ‘no follow’ and ‘do follow’ means. WordPress auto has the click through links on comments set to no follow, meaning the person commenting on your site gets no SEO or any other benefit from commenting on your posts.

I installed a new plugin titled Do Follow, this takes away the ‘no follow’ code that is internally built into the WP software. If you have your spam under control with Akismet or some other rad plugin that I don’t know about then you should definitely add this tool.

This will increase inbound links to your post via more search hits to carefully crafted on the point comments on your site as well as add bonus SEO for your commenter.

Thinking through this, but I’m not sure about the benefit you mentioned to the blogger (I get the benefit to the commenter).

Speaking of links, I found a nasty spam link in my WP theme…ugh, no thanks. Got that taken care of!

In your theme code you found a spam link? What do you use as way of protection.

Btw it is by search on post that inbound links will come from do follow.

Thanks for drawing attention to this. I ended up choosing a slightly different flavored plugin (Follow My Links) which strips rel=nofollow from author links and from their comment posts as well. I’m glad you brought this up, it’s good to know!

Blogger’s default is also set to no follow, but it’s as simple as searching your template and changing the no’s to do’s to change it.

I think It’s a benefit to everyone, not just the commenter. Makes things easier and more streamlined too. Just my opinion though!
