The Everything Austen Challenge

everythingausten2

Classic literature is one of my vices, I love to sit and read a good sattire and decipher the archaic language. One author I had never gotten to is Jane Austen. I had bought all the books at a sale earlier and wanted to read them this summer, and then I saw Stephanie at thewrittenword.com had a Everything Austen Challenge on her blog, I have been participating a bit but have been lazy and not wrote my official entry post so here it is!

The Everything Austen Challenge runs from July 1, 2009 to January 1, 2010. Participants have picked out six Austen-themed books to read / movies to watch or in some cases both to finish by the end of the year. For full details and to sign up, just click here. The deadline for signing up is July 15, 2009.

You can follow Stephanies blog and use search.twitter.com to follow the #everythingausten hash tag and see what we are all up to in the challenge minute to minute.

Now finally my picks for the Everything Austen Challenge.

  • Watching Persuasion
  • Watching Sense and Sensibility (professor snape, doctor house verson hehe!)
  • Watching Mansfield Park
  • Reading Pride and Prejudice
  • Reading Northanger Abbey
  • Reading Emma

So there you have and do not forget to sign up yourself, I rarely do a challenge but this seems super fun. If you aren’t participating then check out the Twitter action and I hope to read your reviews soon.

Thank you for hosting such a novel idea! So much fun. My husband built my blog I think I was his hardest customer ever, but he did do a fantastic job.

I joined this challenge, too. Alan Rickman is soooooooo sexy in S&S; well, he’s always sexy, but he was particularly sexy in that movie. :)

Yay! I’m excited you’re joining in on this challenge too. I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts on the choices you made. I have to say I’ve seen Sense and Sensibility (the version you’re speaking of) so many times this month. It’s currently playing on cable and it seems to be on every time I turn the television on. haha

    Good luck!
